How Much Is Your Camper Worth? Find Out Instantly with Camperly’s Free Valuation Tool

Pricing a camper for sale is one of the hardest parts of the selling process. Price it too high and your listing sits for months. Price it too low and you leave thousands on the table. Unlike standard cars and trucks, most campers — especially custom-built vans, skoolies, and overland rigs — don’t show up in traditional pricing guides like Kelley Blue Book or NADA.

That’s exactly why we built the Camperly Valuation Tool — a free, instant way to estimate the market value of your camper based on the details that actually matter.

Why Traditional RV Pricing Guides Fall Short

Tools like NADA Guides and KBB work well for mass-produced motorhomes and factory-built travel trailers. But if you own a converted Sprinter van, a custom skoolie, an overland-equipped 4Runner, or a self-built teardrop trailer, those tools simply don’t have data for your vehicle. They can’t account for the value of a professional conversion, a full off-grid electrical system, or aftermarket overland modifications.

The result? Sellers either guess at a price based on what they see on Facebook Marketplace, or they default to whatever they spent on the build — which often doesn’t reflect what the market will actually pay.

What the Camperly Valuation Tool Covers

Our tool is built specifically for the types of vehicles that Camperly specializes in. It covers six categories:

  • Camper Vans — Sprinter, Transit, Promaster, Econoline, and more
  • Travel Trailers — Airstream, Jayco, Grand Design, Oliver, TAXA, and 14 other popular makes
  • Truck Campers — Four Wheel Campers, Lance, Kimbo, Go Fast Campers, Oru, and more
  • Bus Conversions / Skoolies — School buses, shuttles, and coaches
  • Teardrop & Squaredrop Trailers — nuCamp, Escapod, Hiker, plus self-built and custom options
  • Overland SUVs — Toyota 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, Land Rover Defender, and 20+ other models

How the Valuation Works

The tool walks you through five quick steps. You’ll select your vehicle type, enter details like year, mileage, make/model, drivetrain, and build quality, then rate the condition and check off any features or upgrades you’ve added.

The estimate factors in everything that affects real-world pricing: vehicle age, mileage, condition, drivetrain (AWD and 4×4 builds command a premium), build quality tier for custom conversions, and individual features like solar panels, lithium batteries, off-grid systems, diesel heaters, lift kits, and more.

You’ll get an estimated market value along with a price range you can explore with an interactive slider — from below-market pricing for a quick sale to premium pricing if your build justifies it.

What Factors Affect Your Camper’s Value?

Understanding what drives your camper’s market value helps you price it right and position your listing effectively. Here are the biggest factors:

Vehicle type and base model. A Mercedes Sprinter conversion will typically command more than an Econoline build of similar age and quality, largely due to the base vehicle’s reputation and resale demand. Similarly, Airstream travel trailers hold their value significantly better than most other brands.

Year and mileage. Newer vehicles with lower mileage naturally command higher prices. However, for custom conversions, the conversion year can matter as much as the vehicle year — a 2015 Sprinter with a 2024 professional build is worth considerably more than one with a 2016 DIY conversion.

Build quality. For camper vans and bus conversions, there’s a significant spread between a basic DIY build and a professional high-end conversion. Buyers will pay a premium for documented professional builds from reputable builders.

Drivetrain. AWD and 4×4 variants consistently sell for more across every vehicle category. The overlanding and boondocking market continues to grow, and four-wheel-drive capability is one of the most sought-after features.

Condition. This one is straightforward — excellent condition commands a premium, while fair or poor condition requires transparent pricing. The good news is that honest descriptions of condition build trust with buyers and often lead to faster sales.

Features and upgrades. Solar panels, lithium battery banks, full off-grid electrical systems, bathroom/shower setups, and diesel heaters all add measurable value. For overland SUVs, modifications like lift kits, skid plates, locking differentials, rooftop tents, and long-range fuel tanks can significantly increase what buyers are willing to pay.

Tips for Getting the Best Price

Once you have your valuation, here are a few ways to maximize your sale price:

Document everything. Buyers pay more when they can see exactly what’s in the build. Create a detailed list of components with brand names, specs, and install dates. If you have a professional builder, include their name — it adds credibility and value.

Invest in great photos. Listings with 10 or more quality photos sell up to three times faster than those with just a few. Photograph every angle, every feature, and every detail of your build. Good lighting makes a huge difference.

Price competitively from the start. The first two weeks of a listing get the most views. Overpricing at launch and dropping the price later signals desperation to buyers. Use the valuation range to find a sweet spot — competitive enough to attract interest, but high enough to leave room for negotiation.

Be transparent about condition. If there are issues, disclose them upfront. Buyers appreciate honesty, and it builds the kind of trust that leads to serious offers rather than lowball negotiations.
