Marbles: Your Off-Grid Adventure Awaits!

Check out www.blacksheepconversion.com for a video walktrough and more pictures

Meet Marbles 😎, a 2003 Ford E-450 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel, famously known as the “million-mile motor.” With only 136,000 miles, Marbles is a meticulously crafted skoolie (school bus conversion) titled as a motorhome. Built for off-grid adventures in all four seasons, it boasts multiple heating options: wood, diesel, and electric, making it truly unique.

As an artist who specializes in creating one-of-a-kind, functional art pieces, each of my builds is inspired by personal experiences. Marbles got its name during the tear-down process when I found an abundance of glass playing marbles, reminding me of the movie “Hook.” In this film, an old man finds his marbles, representing his happy thoughts that allow him to fly back to Neverland. Marbles is designed to transport you to your happy place, creating countless cherished memories.

I only create one build per year, focusing on meticulous craftsmanship and durability. Unlike DIY garage builds, Marbles was constructed in a commercial workshop with state-of-the-art tools. Every detail was meticulously addressed, from stripping the exterior to bare metal to installing top-tier insulation.

Key Features:

The Bus: A 2003 Ford E-450 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel, titled as a motorhome. The interior height is 71 1/2″. Mechanically sound with no fluid leaks or rust. Brand new glow plugs, six new E load 11-ply T/A Ko2 tires, Firestone airbags, and a wireless dual-zone air compressor. The bus handles mountain passes effortlessly and maintains highway speed limits, loaded or empty.

Exterior: Sanded and sandblasted to bare metal and professionally painted. Wheel rims are powder-coated, and windows have high-end ceramic tint with a lifetime warranty. Upgraded with new LED lights and equipped with floodlight LED bars for extra visibility. Features a lockable storage box, a 120-volt outlet near the passenger door, and a propane storage drawer that feeds the roof deck fire pit. The modified passenger door swings outward with a locking knob for enhanced security.

Roof: Boasts a 16-gauge welded steel frame, a redwood deck with a custom solar panel track system, a gas fireplace, hammock pole inserts, and a large luggage rack. Solar panels slide out to serve as awnings, providing shade.

Electrical System: Includes 1280 watts of Renogy solar panels, a Victron 3000-watt inverter/charger, a Victron 100-amp MPPT charging controller, and two Victron 30-amp DC-to-DC chargers. Four 12V OWL MAX 2 – LiFePO4 batteries provide 912 amp hours at 12 volts. Features a propane alarm, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and an automatic climate-controlled exhaust system. A truly epic off-grid system

Plumbing: Features an Everflo 5.5 GPM water pump, a 65-gallon fresh water tank, a 31-gallon grey water tank, and a Girard tankless propane water heater. Includes an LED digital water level readout and a composting C-head toilet with an exhaust fan.

Kitchen: Stainless steel sink with a pull-out faucet, in-line water filter, butcher block countertop, and ample storage. Includes a 3-burner propane stove, large oven with charcoal filter extraction hood, and a slide-out IceCo 65-liter dual-zone fridge/freezer.

Bedroom/Dining Room: U-shaped couch with custom cushions, butcher block dining table that converts into a large bed, RGBW LED shelf lights, and ample storage. Includes 120-volt outlets, USB charging outlets, and C-head charging ports.

Heating/Cooling: Cubic Mini wood-burning stove, 9,000 BTU Pioneer mini-split air conditioner with heat pump, and Espar Airtronic S2 DL2 diesel heater. Also features a Fantastic air in/out 3-speed fan with a thermostat.

Shower: Cedar shower walls, LED lighting, exhaust fan, and an adjustable showerhead. Features a self-squeegee retractable antimicrobial shower door.
