Description
This 2005 Bluebird skoolie conversion features the larger Cummins 8.3L diesel engine paired with an Allison transmission and automatic tire chains. It’s a strong-running platform that has been carefully converted with major systems already in place.
The interior build is insulated with closed-cell spray foam, framed in cedar and shiplap with bamboo flooring for durability and a natural feel. Four bunks are built in, two couches convert into beds, and additional mattresses stored under couch cushions can be used on the floor — providing a total sleeping capacity of up to 8.
Comfort features include a roof-mounted A/C unit and dual MAXX AIR fans for ventilation (one fan needs repair). As part of the conversion, the bus’ original dash A/C and diesel heater system were removed/disconnected, since climate control is now handled by the roof unit and fans.
Power is handled through 30A shore power compatibility and a Bluetti AC200P system for off-grid use. Outlets and recessed LED lighting are installed throughout, including in bunks and lounge areas. The kitchen sink is plumbed with drainage, and a 7-gallon water heater is included (not yet installed). A Nature’s Head composting toilet is fitted, eliminating the need for a black water hookup.
The bus also includes a refrigerator, induction cooktop, new LED running lights, sealed roof, and fresh exterior paint (white roof for cooling, green body, black wheels). Cameras on the left, right, and rear feed to a monitor in the driver’s area for added safety.
Extras include additional shiplap, fixtures, soundproofing panels, magnetic door screens, T-track with clips, and a user/maintenance manual with enlarged electrical diagrams.
Condition
The bus runs well and is structurally solid. Front dash and entry still need trim work to finish. Remaining work is mostly cosmetic/personalization, making this a great option for someone wanting a nearly complete, livable rig with room to add their own finishing touches.
